Programme Manager

Sushmita qualified as an occupational therapist in 2001 and completed her Masters in Neuro Rehabilitation in 2003, before moving to the UK in 2004 to work as a team lead in neuro rehabilitation. She gained a broad variety of experience in specialist neuro rehab while working with clients with a range of neurological diagnoses across inpatient, outpatient and community settings. She held the role of clinical lead in the Neuro Rehabilitation Service at Kings College Hospital (that included a specialist neuro rehabilitation unit), and as pathway lead for a complex community rehabilitation service in her previous role.

Sushmita has over 15 years' experience working with clients with head injury and other complex neurological disabilities. She uses a person-centred, multi-disciplinary approach to identify early rehabilitation needs and set individualised goals to maximise clients rehab potential and facilitate community reintegration in the longer term.

She has specialised skills in acute neurology and neuro rehabilitation, and experience of using a variety of specialist assessment and intervention tools for evidence based rehabilitation after neurological injuries, such as customised neuro splinting and functional electrical stimulus. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies exploring care pathways for people surviving severe stroke, while working with the Care Quality Commission and undertaking various rehabilitation posts.
