Programme Manager

Since qualifying as an occupational therapist from Northumbria University, Laura has worked in various acute and rehabilitation hospital settings across the North East of England, gaining experience of a range of neurological and mental health conditions, including dementia, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, brain injury, brain cancer, stroke, depression, anxiety, and psychosis. Her responsibilities have included; arranging complex discharges, devising and monitoring in-hospital rehabilitation plans, completing moving and handling plans and facilitating moving and handling workshops, close working with carers and family members, managing risks that individuals present towards themselves and others through assessment of mental capacity and adherence to deprivation of liberty safeguards, and assessing for equipment for individuals who lack capacity or insight.

Currently, alongside my role as a neurological occupational therapist within reach, I work as a rehabilitation case manager, managing the rehabilitation of clients with orthopaedic, brain and spinal cord injuries. In my spare time, my interests include playing and teaching the flute, walking along the beautiful north east coast line, and cats.
